Nyo Zar Hlaing is a 27-year-old Myanmar helper who is single and has approximately 4 years of working experience as a helper in Myanmar. She has gained hands-on experience in both elderly care and childcare through her previous employment with two households.
She shared that she previously worked for a family for 2 years and 3 months, caring for an 81-year-old Ah Ma and a 79-year-old Ah Gong. Ah Ma had diabetes and used a wheelchair. Her responsibilities included assisting Ah Ma with bathing, administering medication, providing massage, accompanying her to hospital appointments, cooking and maintaining household cleanliness.
She subsequently worked for another family for 1 year and 3 months, consisting of Sir, Madam and a 4-year-old girl. Her main responsibility was childcare, including bathing the child, sending and fetching her from school, playing with her and helping her with homework. She was also responsible for cooking and managing general household duties.
Through her previous working experience, she has gained practical experience in caring for elderly persons with health and mobility needs, as well as young children. She is comfortable assisting elderly persons with bathing and daily activities and is also able to care for children aged 2 years and above. She mentioned that she is comfortable sleeping in the same room with either a child or an elderly person if required. Although she can manage both childcare and elderly care, she feels that elderly care is her stronger area.
She is able to cook Myanmar and Chinese dishes, can follow recipes and is willing to learn more cooking styles according to the employer’s preferences. She can also manage general household duties, including cleaning and maintaining household cleanliness.
