Aye Su Hlaing is a 23-year-old Myanmar helper who is single and has approximately 3 years of working experience as a helper in Myanmar. She has gained hands-on experience in both childcare and elderly care through her previous employment with two households.
She shared that she previously worked for a family for 1 year and 8 months, consisting of Sir, Madam and a 2-year-old boy. Her main responsibility was caring for the child, including bathing, feeding, sending and fetching him from school, and helping him with his homework. She was also responsible for cooking and maintaining household cleanliness.
She subsequently worked for another family for 1 year and 4 months in a household consisting of 3 adults, including an 83-year-old Ah Ma who was a stroke patient. Her responsibilities included administering medication, assisting Ah Ma with exercises, changing her diapers, helping her with bathing, cooking and managing general household duties.
Through her previous working experience, she has gained practical experience in caring for young children and elderly persons with care needs. She is comfortable assisting elderly persons with bathing and daily activities and is also able to care for children aged 3 years and above. She mentioned that she is comfortable sleeping in the same room with either a child or an elderly person if required. Although she can manage both childcare and elderly care, she feels that elderly care is her stronger area.
