Thu Zar Aung is a 35-year-old Myanmar helper who is divorced and has 2 children aged 9 and 13 years old. She mentioned that her children will be taken care of by her mother while she works overseas. Through raising her own children, she has gained hands-on experience in understanding children’s daily routines and needs.
She previously worked for a family in Myanmar consisting of the employer, employer’s husband and an 83-year-old grandmother. She mentioned that her main responsibility was taking care of the grandmother, along with managing household duties such as cleaning and cooking.
She shared that she has experience in elderly care and is able to handle daily care tasks including bathing, diaper changing, assisting with daily routines and providing care according to the elderly’s needs. She mentioned that she is comfortable taking care of elderly and is able to sleep together with elderly if required.
She shared that she is also comfortable taking care of children as she has her own children. She mentioned that she is able to take care of children from around 6 months old onwards and can manage two children at the same time if required. She shared that she prefers childcare, although she is also able to assist with elderly care.
She is able to cook Myanmar food and currently learning simple Chinese cooking. She can follow recipes and is willing to learn more cooking styles according to the employer’s preference. She can manage general household duties including cleaning, laundry, ironing and maintaining household cleanliness.
She shared that she loves dogs and cats. She has experience keeping dogs and cats at home, including feeding and bathing them. She is comfortable working in households with pets.
Through the interaction at the training centre, she appears to be a caring and responsible person. She is willing to cooperate and adapt to the employer’s requirements. She is also comfortable sleeping together with both children and elderly if required.
Families looking for a helper with elderly care experience, mothering experience and childcare ability may consider her based on her caregiving skills. She is more interested and confident in childcare but is also able to assist with elderly care.
